Information For September Start

Fingers crossed for a socially distanced classroom like this one in Denmark

Hooray! September is here and the start of a new school year, though not like any school year we have ever known. The teachers in many places are back in today and pupils are back in tomorrow. To help with all the conflicting advice from various news organisations, I have tried to bring together all of the advice from the government, unions and press as to how to keep safe in school this term.

The NEU guidance to returning to school can be found here. It seems pretty light but there is a link to the very detailed Checklist For Supply Members, which is worth consulting. You do not need to be an NEU member to read to or use it.

This is the link to the NASUWT Supply Teacher page. Though it hasn’t been updated since May, it contains a link to the Corna virus hub, which is regularly updated with advice.

There is a really good page from Unison which gives plenty of worthwhile advice. Again, you don’t have to be a unison member to access it.

The advice came out from the government last week concerning face covering in the classroom, which is a definite piece of advice you need to read. It is however only part of the Coronavirus (Education & Childcare) document, published by the government which we should all be following. The government have published the Guidance for fully opening: Schools as well.

If you are registered with the Times Educational Supplement, then they tend to have updates on a daily basis, but you can only read the articles if you are a subscriber.

Finally, Schools Week is another good publication to follow, where you can keep up-to-date with the latest Corona virus news about schools without paying a subscription.

Please enjoy all of the links and keep safe this term.
